Express Entry

Canada’s Express Entry stream was introduced in 2015, and ever since then, it has been a popular option for immigrating to Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP).

How does the Express Entry system work?

It is an online system created to select the most eligible applicants, from a pool, based on criteria such as In-demand occupations, Age, Education, Experience, Language test scores (IELTS, CELPIP), and adaptability assessments.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria submit an online profile known as an Expression of Interest (EOI), under one of the Federal Canadian immigration programs, or a participating provincial immigration program (PNP). These applications stay in the Express Entry Pool for one year.

Candidates’ profiles are ranked by a point-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest ranked applicants are selected and given an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence. These applicants are then required to submit a full application, and pay associated processing fees, within 60 days. With the recent updates on “The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)”, “Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)” and the “Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Express Entry scenario in Canada has changed a lot.

We recommend that out of a maximum possible score of 1200, you should be able to score around 450 points to stand good chances of being selected.

Sometimes, there are special programs where people with fewer points also have chances of successful applications in certain provinces, so constantly updating and monitoring profiles is essential.

The Federal government aims to process a complete Permanent Residence (PR) application within 6 months after document submission.
